About us

Gate Farm, Llandyssil, Montgomery

We are third generation dairy farmers at Gate farm in Mid Wales, on the hills above Llandyssil in a place called Cefn-Y-Coed. Our farm has unbelievable views looking over Welshpool in one direction and Newtown in the other.

A few years ago, we decided to diversify creating our sister company, Daisy Bank Dairy which provides beautiful organic milk across Wales. We are now using the organic milk for Trefaldwyn Blue.

We are passionate about farming and the welfare of our cows. They graze on lush organic grass as many days of the year as possible.

We are very keen on regenerative agriculture, improving soil health, using rotational grazing and growing grass crops that have as little impact on the environment as possible and actually help to reverse the effects of air pollution, using herbal and clover pastures, to increase cow health and pull carbon out of the atmosphere and use it as fuel to grow our grass ORGANICALLY. .

Being organic, we don't use artificial sprays or fertilizers, and are not allowed to use anything GM (genetically modified), and is the only certification that stipulates that farmers turn there cows out to graze their animals BY LAW.

Yes organic farming is hard, and we certainly have to plan how we do things, and our farm doesn't grow as fast or as much as conventional farmers, but we love it and wouldn't change it for the world.

Organic farms on average have 50% more wildlife and mini-beasts and orgainc milk is 50% higher in omega3, and it's all the herbal and clover grass pasture that makes our milk taste so sweet.
